DIY Deep Fakes or “Why deep fakes are dangerous and how to make them”
Deep neural networks provide new and better ways to perform useful tasks like face recognition and search optimization. But they can also be used to do unexpected – and even unwanted — things like photoshopping full videos, placing one person’s face on another person’s body. In this presentation, I will walk you through the technology and brief history of manufacturing deep fakes, with detours into the ivory towers where frightening new algorithms are being created and the seedy back alleys of the Internet where tools like FakeApp are being distributed to both the unwary and the pernicious. We’ll also take a look at what is coming next and how you can protect yourself from it.
Please take a walk on the wild side of machine learning with me.
